The Go Succeed Start team hosts this How to Write a Press Release masterclass.

About this Masterclass:

Writing a press release is a basic skill for those who need to undertake PR for their business, large or small. The purpose of this workshop is to give participants practical insights on how to write press releases that are useful to the media.

Attendees will gain actionable guidance of what makes a good press release structure. The course will cover:

  • The purpose of a press release
  • How to write a press release
  • Finalising and issuing a press release
  • Where to find journalists

During this very practical session, attendees will write press releases for feedback and review.

Attendees should bring one subject / topic / piece of work that require a press release, targeted at a particular audience, plus laptop/notebook etc for writing with.

Attendees will receive

  • A workbook ‘writing effective press releases’
  • Example press releases and media pitches

This Go Succeed workshop is open to all individuals in the early stages of their business, throughout Northern Ireland, and is facilitated by Enterprise Northern Ireland.

About the Presenter

Sara McCracken FCIPR is an award-winning PR and communications specialist with more than 20 years’ experience in different areas including environment, health, education, politics, equestrian and agri-rural businesses. She has worked in a range of businesses - a trade union, charities, political party, membership organisations and an alpaca farm.

Sara loves developing strategies that effect change. She has worked in established businesses and new organisations at a senior level, implementing creative PR solutions and processes to manage reputation and raise profile, and can provide expert advice on a range of issues, through workshops and one to ones.

From writing press releases, pitching stories and securing media coverage, to preparing spokespeople for media interviews and political committee appearances, Sara encourages a storytelling approach to ensure key messages are heard.

Her specialities include: PR and communications, strategy development, connecting people, facilitation, events management, editing, speech writing, leadership development, media interview preparation and campaigns.

Away from work, Sara spends time with her two girls, husband and growing menagerie of Max the dog, cats, ponies, chickens and sheep.
